Shirley is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, on the South Shore of Long Island. It is a growing residential community with a mix of suburban neighborhoods, parks, and easy access to both beaches and major roadways. History & Development

Shirley’s modern growth began after World War II, as suburban development spread eastward on Long Island. Named after developer Walter T.
