Herricks is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County, on central Long Island. Located between New Hyde Park, Mineola, Westbury, and Manhasset Hills, Herricks is a well-established suburban community known for its residential neighborhoods, highly regarded schools, convenient transportation, and central Nassau County location.

History

The Herricks area traces its origins to early colonial settlements in central Nassau County. Named after one of the area’s early farming families, the community remained largely agricultural through the 19th century before experiencing significant residential growth following World War II. As Long Island’s suburbs expanded, Herricks developed into a desirable residential neighborhood while maintaining strong ties to the surrounding communities of North Hempstead.
