UNIONDALE, NY – President Donald Trump received a thunderous welcome Friday as he appeared before a packed audience at the Nassau County Police Academy, where uniformed officers and other attendees stood, cheered, applauded and raised their phones as the president entered the room.

Mack Center for Training and Intelligence showed an especially energetic reception, with officers throughout the audience visibly cheering as Trump approached the stage. The reaction gave the Long Island appearance the atmosphere of a political rally even though the event was centered on law enforcement, crime and public safety.
Trump used the August 14 appearance to highlight newly released FBI crime statistics showing a sharp nationwide decline in violent crime during 2025. Preliminary figures cited by the White House showed violent crime falling an estimated 9.3% from the previous year, while murder and non-negligent manslaughter declined 18.1% and robbery fell 18.5%. The FBI has described the reductions in violent crime and murder as the largest single-year declines in decades.
