NeigborDrop Invites First Long Island Users to Join Neighborhood Errand and Carpool App

LONG ISLAND, NY – NeigborDrop is inviting its first Long Island participants to join a marketplace that connects people seeking help with store pickups, everyday errands and shared expense carpools with nearby users available to assist.
The app is available on iOS and Android and can be used in Nassau and Suffolk counties, according to founder Sunill Kumaar. However, the company is describing its introduction as an invitation to build local participation. It has not provided verified figures for Long Island helpers or completed requests, and matching depends on who is participating nearby.
“We want to make the familiar question, ‘I’m heading out – do you need anything?’ easier to act on,” Kumaar said.
How Requests and Payments Work
The platform accommodates different types of requests, including store runs, package drop-offs, dog walking and cleaning. Users seeking assistance can connect with helpers, with pricing determined by the type of task.
For services such as dog walking or cleaning, helpers can set their own charges. For store runs, NeigborDrop sets a minimum helper fee that requesters can increase. The cost of merchandise is separate from the helper’s compensation.
Payments are processed through the app using Stripe. According to the company, NeigborDrop currently charges an 8% platform service fee, with applicable charges displayed before a user confirms.
Verification and Shared Expense Carpools
The app includes messaging, ratings and a completion PIN. Phone numbers are verified using a one-time passcode, while an optional identity verification process uses Didit to check a government-issued ID and conduct a selfie liveness check. Users who complete that process receive a verified badge.
The company clarified that identity verification is separate from a criminal background check or driving record check. A verified badge should therefore not be interpreted as confirmation that those checks have been completed.
The rides described in the original announcement are shared expense carpools with drivers already traveling in the same direction. The platform sets a minimum contribution toward travel costs, which the company says is intended to offset an existing trip’s expenses rather than generate a profit.
Drivers must declare that they own their vehicle and have relevant insurance for the ride. NeigborDrop does not independently verify those documents or guarantee insurance coverage. Whether a particular trip is covered depends on the driver’s insurance policy and its terms.
Building Participation on Long Island
NeigborDrop is seeking interest from residents, local businesses and community organizations as it works to develop participation across Long Island. Downloading the app does not guarantee that a nearby helper or suitable carpool will be available.
The company is offering new users $10 in NeigborDrop credit when they enter referral code R94XO43R during signup. Readers should check the app for any applicable offer conditions.
More information is available at NeigborDrop’s website. The app is listed on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
