Woodmere Man Arrested After 84-Year-Old Victim Punched and Kicked During Roadside Altercation, Police Say

WOODMERE, N.Y. – Nassau County Police announced the arrest of Sharon Zharfati, 51, of Elm Street, Woodmere, in connection with a violent assault that occurred on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, following a minor car accident in the vicinity of 1034 Broadway.

According to detectives, at approximately 11:20 a.m., an 84-year-old man driving a 2022 Dodge collided with a 2023 Tesla operated by a 47-year-old woman. After the collision, both drivers exited their vehicles to exchange information.

While they were doing so, Zharfati allegedly arrived at the scene, grabbed a notepad from the elderly driver’s hands, and then punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. Police say Zharfati then kicked the victim in the head before fleeing the scene on foot.

The injured victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries. Following an investigation by the Fourth Squad, Zharfati was later identified and taken into custody.

Zharfati is charged with: Robbery in the Second Degree and Assault in the Second Degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, November 7, 2025, at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
