WYANDANCH, NY – A 22-year-old man residing in Wyandanch has been indicted on first-degree rape and other charges for allegedly sexually abusing a six-year-old child on multiple occasions during the summer, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Nixon Nehemias Marquezmestanza, a Salvadoran national, was arraigned September 15, 2026, on two counts of Rape in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Prosecutors allege Marquezmestanza had direct access to the child and used that access to sexually abuse the victim on several occasions during July and August 2026.
According to the investigation, the child disclosed the alleged abuse to family members following the last incident in August. Family members then contacted police, prompting an investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department Special Victims Section.
Marquezmestanza was arrested on August 31, 2026.
Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis ordered Marquezmestanza held on $500,000 cash bail, $1.5 million bond or $5 million partially secured bond while the case is pending.
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney credited the child with coming forward and her family with promptly reporting the allegations to authorities, saying such disclosures are often critical to bringing alleged child abuse cases to the attention of law enforcement.
“This brave young victim told someone, and her family acted on it immediately. That is how these cases come to light,” said District Attorney Tierney. “I want every family in Suffolk County to know that they can come forward, and our prosecutors and Special Victims Section will be there. Protecting children is a core responsibility of this office, and we will see this case through.”
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer seeking custody of Marquezmestanza following the completion of the Suffolk County prosecution, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Marquezmestanza is scheduled to return to court on October 29, 2026. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge and is represented by attorney Ira Weissman.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christina O’Dea of the Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Bureau. The investigation was conducted by Detective Glenys Gonzalez of the Suffolk County Police Department Special Victims Section.
