NASSAU COUNTY, NY – President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Long Island on Friday, August 14, for an event focused on law enforcement and public safety in Nassau County.
The president is expected to visit the Nassau County Police Academy, where he will tour law enforcement facilities alongside Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel. The visit was confirmed Monday by a White House spokesperson.
According to the White House, Trump will use the appearance to highlight the FBI’s 2025 crime data. Preliminary figures released by the FBI show violent crime declined an estimated 9.3% nationwide from 2024 to 2025, while murder and non-negligent manslaughter fell by approximately 18%.
Trump is also expected to recognize Nassau County law enforcement personnel and first responders during the visit. Blakeman said he was grateful that the president would be visiting Nassau County to tour its law enforcement facilities and recognize members of the Nassau County Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, Probation Department and local fire departments.
The appearance comes as Blakeman, a Republican, campaigns for governor of New York against Democratic incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul. Trump has backed Blakeman’s gubernatorial bid, adding a political dimension to the president’s visit even though the announced focus of Friday’s event is law enforcement and crime.
The appearance also comes as both parties focus on competitive congressional races on Long Island, including New York’s 4th Congressional District, which Spectrum News has identified as one of the state’s most closely watched House races.
Trump has made several appearances in the New York metropolitan area in recent years, including a 2024 campaign rally at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale.
