EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. — A 23-year-old United States Postal Service employee has been indicted on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after prosecutors alleged he sexually assaulted two teenage girls in separate incidents, including one that allegedly occurred inside a postal truck while he was working his mail route.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that Jenry Buestan Gutama, 23, of Moriches, was arraigned on June 10, 2026, on charges including First-Degree Rape, First-Degree Sexual Abuse, Third-Degree Rape, Sexual Misconduct, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

According to prosecutors, the most recent incident occurred on May 11, 2026, while Buestan Gutama was working as a postal employee. Authorities allege he encountered a 15-year-old girl walking home from school and offered her a ride to get food.

Instead, prosecutors allege, he drove to a nearby cul-de-sac, parked the vehicle, prevented the girl from leaving, grabbed her wrists, and forced her into the rear of the postal truck where he sexually assaulted her.

The teenager later returned to school and reported the incident. Following an investigation, the East Hampton Town Police Department arrested Buestan Gutama on May 15, 2026.

After local media reports about the arrest, investigators said a second alleged victim came forward. A now 19-year-old woman told police that when she was 15 years old, Buestan Gutama, who was a family friend, allegedly sexually assaulted her inside his vehicle after parking near her home.

A Suffolk County grand jury later returned an indictment charging Buestan Gutama with one count of First-Degree Rape, one count of First-Degree Sexual Abuse, one count of Third-Degree Rape, two counts of Sexual Misconduct, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

During his arraignment before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis, prosecutors requested that Buestan Gutama remain in custody. The court ordered him held on $150,000 cash bail, $450,000 bond, or a $1.5 million partially secured bond pending the outcome of the case.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Buestan Gutama faces up to 25 years in state prison.

He is scheduled to return to court on July 17, 2026.
