
ELMONT, NY – Nassau County police have arrested two Florida men in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in Elmont in late March.
According to the Nassau County Police Department, officers responded to the area of Locustwood Boulevard and 106th Avenue on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at approximately 7:53 p.m. following reports of gunfire. An investigation at the scene determined that two individuals had fired handguns toward a vehicle before fleeing the area. No injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, detectives located and arrested Jordan Johnson, 18, and Audubree Steele, 18, both of West Palm Beach, Florida, on April 1, 2026, in Elmont.
Police said that Steele was found in possession of a Smith & Wesson handgun at the time of the arrest.
Steele has been charged with four counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, and attempted assault in the first degree. Johnson faces two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, and attempted assault in the first degree.
Both defendants are scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at First District Court in Hempstead.
