LONG ISLAND, NY – A Selden man has been indicted in connection with a deadly hit-and-run that claimed the life of 37-year-old Victoria Hutson earlier this month. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that 44-year-old Lan Truong is facing a felony charge of Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting, along with a related traffic offense, after allegedly striking Hutson with his vehicle and fleeing.

According to prosecutors, the crash occurred on November 5, 2025, at about 11:21 a.m. as Hutson was walking along the right shoulder of Boyle Road in Selden. Investigators say Truong was driving a 2016 Toyota Camry northbound when his vehicle veered onto the shoulder and hit her. The impact reportedly sent Hutson partially into the roadway.

Authorities say Truong did not call 911 or attempt to notify police. Instead, he allegedly drove to the next intersection, got out of his car, returned to where Hutson lay, and dragged her further into the shoulder before leaving the area. Witnesses attempted lifesaving measures, but Hutson died at the scene from her injuries.

Detectives located Truong’s Camry behind his home later the same evening. Prosecutors state that investigators found blood on the windshield, passenger-side door, and passenger-side window. The vehicle was seized as evidence, and Truong was arrested the following day, November 6.

Truong was arraigned on November 20, 2025, before Supreme Court Justice John B. Collins, who ordered him held on $200,000 cash, $400,000 bond, or a $2,000,000 partially secured bond. Truong is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident Without Reporting, a Class D felony, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License, a traffic infraction.

He is due back in court on December 16, 2025, and faces a potential sentence of 2 1/3 to 7 years in prison if convicted on the top charge.

Hutson was a peace officer employed by the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) at the time of her death. According to reports, Hutson had worked in public-service roles for many years, including positions with NYC DHS and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). Family members described her as a committed public servant, one of twelve siblings, and someone known for her warm personality.
