NORTH AMITYVILLE, N.Y. – A 20-year-old North Amityville man has been indicted in connection with the fatal shooting of his 17-year-old friend during an incident inside his family home last month, according to Suffolk County prosecutors.

According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Bryan Ventura-Ramirez was charged by a Suffolk County grand jury with second-degree manslaughter and multiple weapons-related offenses in the death of Robin Moscoso-Hernandez.

On the evening of Oct. 18, 2025, officers from the Suffolk County Police Department responded to a 911 call at 9 Francine Avenue in North Amityville at approximately 8:55 p.m., where they found Moscoso-Hernandez suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.

In court, Ramirez pleaded not guilty to the charges. His attorney, Gregory Grizopoulos, stated that the shooting was accidental, saying “it’s my understanding that the two of them were handling the firearm when it went off.”

At his arraignment on Nov. 17, a judge set bail at $100,000 cash or $300,000 bond (or $1 million partially secured), according to a Patch report. After the bond was posted, Ramirez was released under GPS monitoring and ordered to comply with a nighttime curfew, court records show.

The indictment includes charges of second-degree manslaughter (a Class C felony), criminal possession of a firearm (a Class E felony), and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a Class A misdemeanor).

Weapon Details
Prosecutors say the firearm recovered from the scene was a 3D-printed ghost gun without a serial number – a type of weapon that cannot be traced by law enforcement. According to court filings, the gun failed to properly eject a shell casing and was found alongside a bag containing 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition under Ramirez’s bed. Ghost guns, including 3D-printed models, have been increasingly linked to criminal activity throughout Suffolk County due to their accessibility and lack of traceability.

For the victim’s family, the loss of a teenager in what authorities describe as a preventable shooting has underscored broader concerns about gun safety and unregulated firearms in the home. According to a News 12 report, Ramirez and Moscoso-Hernandez were close friends and had been together at Ramirez’s residence at the time of the shooting.

Ramirez is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 7, 2026. If convicted on the top count of second-degree manslaughter, he could face up to 15 years in prison under New York law.
