Chi Hung Leung, 50, of Brooklyn, was arrested after allegedly striking a Nassau County Highway Patrol Officer with his vehicle while driving intoxicated on the Long Island Expressway in East Hills. Police say he then attempted to flee and later tried to bribe officers during his arrest.

EAST HILLS, NY – Nassau County Police announced the arrest of Chi Hung Leung, 50, of Brooklyn, after he allegedly struck a Highway Patrol Officer with his vehicle while driving intoxicated early Monday morning, then attempted to flee the scene both by car and on foot.

The incident occurred on October 27, 2025, at approximately 5:58 a.m., on the eastbound Long Island Expressway near Exit 38 in East Hills. According to investigators, Highway Patrol officers were responding to an unrelated 911 call in a marked police vehicle when a 2024 black Audi, operated by Leung, collided with one of the officers.

Police say the driver initially tried to leave the area in his vehicle before abandoning it and fleeing on foot. Responding officers quickly located Leung nearby and placed him under arrest. An investigation determined he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Both the injured officer and the defendant were transported to nearby hospitals for evaluation and treatment. During the course of the arrest, Leung allegedly offered several officers money in exchange for his release, resulting in additional bribery charges.

Leung faces multiple charges, including Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of an Incident Resulting in Injury, two counts of Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle (3rd Degree), and three counts of Bribery (2nd Degree).

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
