History

LIU originally erected a cutting-edge domed structure on this site in 1970; the dome collapsed during a severe 1978 winter storm. The current Tilles Center rose here in 1981, reusing parts of the original structure and creating a multi-purpose performance hall known for excellent natural acoustics.
