RIVERHEAD, NY – Two men tied to a major Suffolk County drug distribution network have been sentenced to state prison following guilty pleas to narcotics and weapons charges.

Carlos Reyes-Redrovan, 32, of Philadelphia and formerly of Riverhead, received a 10-year prison term after admitting in July to operating as a major drug trafficker and selling cocaine and heroin to undercover officers. His supplier, 46-year-old Akim Slater of Ronkonkoma, was sentenced to eight years in prison in September after pleading guilty to first-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Prosecutors said the investigation began in August 2023 when Reyes-Redrovan approached undercover officers at a Suffolk bar, offering cocaine samples and later providing his phone number. Between August 2023 and March 2024, he sold undercover officers more than 37 ounces of cocaine during 15 transactions. He also sold about 11 ounces of heroin between December 2023 and March 2024.

On June 20, 2024, Reyes-Redrovan was arrested after meeting an undercover officer and exchanging 300 grams of heroin for $10,000 inside the officer’s vehicle.

Court-authorized wiretaps later identified Slater as Reyes-Redrovan’s supplier. A search of Slater’s Ronkonkoma home uncovered cocaine, digital scales, and a loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol. He was arrested on July 2, 2024.

Slater pleaded guilty on June 23, 2025, and was sentenced on September 3 to eight years in prison with five years of post-release supervision. He was represented by attorney Robert Macedonio.

Reyes-Redrovan pleaded guilty on July 24, 2025, and was sentenced on the same date as Slater to 10 years in prison with five years of post-release supervision. He was represented by attorney Ian Fitzgerald.

The case was handled by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force, which includes investigators from multiple local and state law enforcement agencies, and prosecuted by William Nash of the DA’s Narcotics Bureau.
