
SEAFORD, NY – A Seaford man is facing multiple drug possession charges after Nassau County police said officers stopped him while he was riding an e-bike and discovered 70 glassine envelopes containing a white powder believed to be heroin.
Thomas Coyle, 47, of Seaford, was arrested following the encounter, which occurred at approximately 3:18 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Police said officers assigned to the department’s Bureau of Special Operations observed Coyle operating an e-bike westbound on the sidewalk along Merrick Road.
The officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop near the intersection of Merrick Road and Seaford Avenue, according to detectives with the Seventh Squad.
During the investigation, officers allegedly found Coyle in possession of 70 glassine envelopes containing a white powdery substance that police said was believed to be heroin. Coyle was then taken into custody without incident.
Police charged Coyle with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. He was also charged with Reckless or Uncontrolled Operation of a Bicycle and a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.
The allegations and charges against Coyle are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Coyle was arraigned Friday, Oct. 2, at First District Court in Hempstead, according to police.

The arrest began as an e-bike traffic stop and resulted in felony drug charges after officers allegedly discovered the suspected narcotics. The case will now proceed through Nassau County court, where prosecutors will be required to prove the charges against Coyle.
