HICKSVILLE, NY – A 21-year-old Hicksville man has been charged with first-degree assault and other offenses after Nassau County police say a 27-year-old woman was beaten, bitten and choked during an altercation inside a Harding Avenue residence.
According to the Nassau County Police Department, officers from the Second Squad responded to the residence following a reported disturbance at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Police said a verbal argument had occurred between Geovanny Lucero Vidal, 21, and a 27-year-old woman before the dispute escalated into a physical altercation.
Detectives allege that Vidal struck and bit the woman in the face multiple times before forcibly grabbing her around the neck and applying pressure, making it difficult for her to breathe. Police said the woman was able to contact a family member, who then called authorities on her behalf.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital and was listed in critical but stable condition when police announced the arrest on September 28.
Officers took Vidal into custody without incident, according to police. Investigators said they subsequently determined that Vidal was also in violation of a valid order of protection.
Hicksville is a hamlet in the Town of Oyster Bay in central Nassau County.
Vidal has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree criminal obstruction of breathing and aggravated criminal contempt, according to Nassau County police.
