HAUPPAUGE, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that Marion Maupin, 33, of Ridge, has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison after being convicted of robbing a Yaphank gas station at gunpoint while on parole for prior felony weapons convictions.
A Suffolk County jury found Maupin guilty in April of multiple charges stemming from the January 24, 2025, robbery of a Shell gas station in Yaphank, where prosecutors said he and an accomplice stole cash at gunpoint before leading police on a high-speed chase through Suffolk County.
District Attorney Tierney criticized New York’s parole system following the sentencing, noting that Maupin had previously been convicted twice on felony weapons charges before committing the armed robbery while on parole.
According to trial evidence, Maupin and Raiquan Davis, 28, of Coram, entered the gas station at approximately 7:30 a.m. wearing hoodies and face masks. Prosecutors said Davis acted as a lookout near the entrance while Maupin pointed a loaded handgun at the store clerk’s head, demanded money, and stole cash from the register before the pair fled in a white Cadillac.
Officers with the Suffolk County Police Department later located the vehicle in Bellport and attempted a traffic stop. Instead, prosecutors said the suspects fled, leading officers on a pursuit lasting approximately 15 minutes at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
During the chase, both men exited the moving vehicle before it crashed into a telephone pole near a home daycare. Investigators said a loaded, operable handgun was thrown into a nearby yard during the pursuit and later recovered by law enforcement. Maupin and Davis attempted to escape on foot but were arrested in the backyard of the daycare property.
On April 28, 2026, a jury convicted Maupin of:

- Robbery in the Second Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree
- Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree
Court records show Maupin was previously convicted of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree in 2013, receiving a three-year prison sentence. He was convicted of the same offense again in 2019 and sentenced to five years in prison before being released on parole in January 2023.
