
LEVITTOWN, NY – An East Meadow man has been charged with attempted murder after Nassau County police said he stabbed another man following an argument outside a popular Levittown comedy club.
According to detectives with the Nassau County Police Department’s Eighth Squad, officers responded to an aided case at Governors Comedy Club on Division Avenue at approximately 6:36 p.m. on June 18. Upon arrival, investigators determined that an altercation had occurred between Francis Jimenea, 54, of East Meadow, and a 58-year-old man.
Police said the argument escalated and moved to a back alley area near the comedy club. During the confrontation, Jimenea allegedly stabbed the victim in the back with a knife.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
Following the incident, police arrested Jimenea without incident. He was also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of a laceration. Additional details regarding how he sustained the injury were not immediately available.
Jimenea has been charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a felony offense under New York law. He was scheduled to be arraigned on June 19 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The investigation remains ongoing.
