Shorefront Park in Patchogue offers sweeping views of the Great South Bay, with its waterfront bandshell, walking paths and open recreational areas providing a scenic setting for community events and outdoor activities.

Shorefront Park is a waterfront public park overlooking the Great South Bay in Patchogue, New York. Located at the southern end of the village near Mascot Dock, the park combines open waterfront scenery with walking paths, a playground, recreational facilities, a bandshell, athletic fields, and one of Long Island’s more significant living shoreline restoration projects.

The park is a popular place for walking, outdoor recreation, community gatherings, concerts, and simply spending time along Patchogue’s waterfront. Its location roughly a mile south of downtown makes it an easy addition to a visit to Patchogue’s Main Street restaurants, shops, and entertainment district.

Waterfront & Recreation

Shorefront Park stretches along the Great South Bay and provides visitors with open views of the water and surrounding South Shore landscape. Walking paths provide an easy way to explore the waterfront, while grassy areas offer space for casual recreation and community activities.

Village facilities at the park include a playground, walking track, baseball and softball facilities, basketball, parking, restrooms, water fountains, and ADA-accessible features. Adult fitness equipment is also available, giving residents another option for outdoor exercise along the waterfront.

Living Shoreline

One of Shorefront Park’s most distinctive features is its Living Shoreline, a major coastal restoration and resiliency project completed in 2023. The approximately $3 million project replaced about 1,300 feet of deteriorating bulkhead with a more natural shoreline designed to reduce erosion and flooding while restoring coastal habitat.

The restored shoreline incorporates salt marsh, beach and dune environments, native coastal vegetation, rock sills and other features designed to reduce wave energy and stabilize the waterfront. Approximately 28,500 square feet of new intertidal habitat was established as part of the project, while improvements to Little Creek increased tidal exchange and helped improve drainage and water quality.

The project also expanded public access to the bayfront. New walking paths and a waterfront esplanade, pedestrian bridges, beach access points, and a kayak launch near Mascot Dock allow visitors to experience portions of the shoreline that previously offered more limited access.

Bandshell & Community Events

Shorefront Park’s bandshell makes the property an important outdoor gathering place for Patchogue. The waterfront setting is used for concerts, festivals, community programs, and other seasonal activities, transforming the otherwise relaxed neighborhood park into one of the village’s larger outdoor event spaces at various times during the year.

Visitors planning a trip specifically around a concert or festival should check current Village of Patchogue event information before arriving, as parking, access, and use of portions of the park can change during major events.
