Police say the defendants removed a gold necklace valued at $7,665 and left the store without paying. Both were issued appearance tickets before being taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

GARDEN CITY, NY – Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a grand larceny involving a high-value piece of jewelry stolen from a luxury retailer in East Garden City late last month, according to Nassau County police and court records.

The incident occurred on November 24, 2025, at approximately 3:51 p.m., when officers responded to a report of a theft at Neiman Marcus, located at 620 Old Country Road. According to detectives with the Nassau County Police Department’s Major Case Squad, surveillance video showed two suspects manipulating a jewelry display case before removing a gold necklace valued at $7,665.

Investigators say the suspects passed all points of purchase without paying and exited the store, fleeing in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.

Following a subsequent investigation that included review of surveillance footage and other evidence, detectives arrested Victor Manuel Riveros Ruiz, 48, and Ludy Esperanza Ardila Mogollon, 49, both of Maspeth, Queens. Police identified Ardila Mogollon as a female defendant.

Both individuals were charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, a felony under New York law. They were issued appearance tickets directing them to appear at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street in Hempstead, at a later date.

Police further stated that both defendants are unlawfully present in the United States. After their arrests, they were transferred into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and are subject to federal removal proceedings.

No additional charges have been announced, and no statements from defense counsel were immediately available. The investigation remains under the direction of the Nassau County Police Department’s Major Case Squad.
