
HEMPSTEAD, NY – The Nassau County Police Department Homicide Squad has announced an arrest in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at approximately 10:50 p.m. in Hempstead.
According to detectives, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of Willow Avenue and Kennedy Avenue. When officers arrived, they discovered three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. A 19-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a Northwell paramedic. Two male victims, both 20 years old, were taken to a nearby hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators later identified the deceased woman as Amira McCleod, 19, of Queens, New York. Police did not immediately release details regarding the circumstances leading to the shooting, and the investigation continued in the days following the incident.
As part of the ongoing case, Homicide Squad detectives have now arrested Jacob McMillan, 18, of Wales Avenue in Baldwin. McMillan is accused of firing the shots that killed McCleod and injured the two men.
He is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and Burglary in the Second Degree. McMillan is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
