NEW CASSEL, NY – The Nassau County Police Department’s Third Squad reports the arrest of a Westbury man following an incident on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at approximately 9:27 p.m. in New Cassel.

According to detectives, officers were conducting an investigation involving a 2025 GMC van on Park Avenue near Hopper Street when the driver, identified as Jose Henrriquez Guillen, 44, allegedly attempted to hide a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance. Police say Guillen refused multiple commands to exit the vehicle and fled the scene in the van.

A short time later, officers stopped the vehicle and attempted to place Guillen under arrest. Detectives report that he resisted, causing injuries to two officers who were later transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Guillen is charged with two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, two counts of Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, two counts of Reckless Driving, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
