WALDORF, MD – The Long Island Ducks powered their way to an 8–2 victory over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Wednesday night at Regency Furniture Stadium, continuing their momentum in the Atlantic League North Division race.

Behind standout performances from Seth Beer and Ivan Castillo, the Ducks’ offense ignited early and never looked back. Beer drove in four runs, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and a home run, while Castillo added three hits, including a triple, and scored three times.

Starting pitcher Jonah Dipoto turned in a strong outing for Long Island, tossing six innings and allowing just two runs on six hits. He struck out seven batters en route to earning his third win of the season. The bullpen held firm, securing the Ducks’ 42nd win of the year.

The Ducks jumped out to a 4–0 lead by the fifth inning, capitalizing on timely hits and a defensive error by Southern Maryland’s infield. The Blue Crabs responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth – a triple by Alejandro De Aza and a solo home run by Brian Barrera – but were unable to close the gap further.

Southern Maryland starter Connor Overton suffered the loss, surrendering four runs (three earned) over five innings. The Blue Crabs bullpen struggled to contain the Ducks’ offense in the late innings, allowing another four runs across the eighth and ninth.

Long Island played clean baseball defensively, committing no errors and efficiently stranding Blue Crab runners throughout the game. The victory improves the Ducks’ record to 42–35, keeping them in the playoff hunt during the second half of the season.

The two clubs have been locked in a tight three-game series, with the Ducks also winning Tuesday night’s opener in extra innings. The series concludes Thursday night in Maryland before the Ducks return home to face their next Atlantic League opponent.
