Scoop by Scoop: Long Island Ice Cream Tour Celebrates 15 Sweet Years This Summer; East – July 20, West – August 9

LONG ISLAND, NY – Long Island’s most delicious summer tradition is back – and it’s bigger, sweeter, and creamier than ever. The Long Island Ice Cream Tour (LIICT), now celebrating its 15th anniversary, returns this summer with two events that promise to delight dessert lovers across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The grassroots ice cream crawl, created in 2011 by co-founders Jeff Noreman and Derek Steen, showcases the best homemade ice cream and gelato from family-owned shops across the Island.
Think of it as a bar crawl — but for ice cream.
Two Routes, One Mission: Find Long Island’s Best Scoop
LIICT is set to roll out on two separate dates, with each tour covering a distinct region:
- East Tour: Sunday, July 20, 2025 (National Ice Cream Day)
Starting Point: Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe in Riverhead
Additional Stops: McNulty’s in Miller Place, Mia’s in Selden, Coyle’s in Bay Shore, Mann’s in Amityville, and others. - West Tour: Saturday, August 9, 2025
Starting Point: LICS Ice Cream in Northport
Additional Stops: Alkemy in Huntington, Hildebrandt’s in Williston Park, Henry’s in Glen Cove, and Smusht & Sweet Treats in Port Washington.
Each stop features homemade, small-batch ice cream, with exclusive LIICT discounts and specialty flavors available only to participants.
Unlike a typical food festival, there are no buses or caravans – participants drive themselves from shop to shop, following a map and schedule shared in advance. Each tour takes approximately six to seven hours, and participants are encouraged to wear their official LIICT T-shirts for access to perks and giveaways.
How to Join the Tour
Participation costs $36 for a single tour or $45 for both the East and West events. Registration includes:
- An official 2025 LIICT T-shirt

- Entry into prize drawings and other surprises
- A full-day itinerary packed with ice cream adventures
Signups are now open at www.liict.org, with space limited to ensure a smooth experience at each shop.
More Than Just Ice Cream
What began as a fun idea between two friends has turned into a full-blown Long Island tradition. Since its debut, LIICT has featured over 45 different creameries and introduced hundreds of locals to mom-and-pop shops they may never have discovered on their own.
Even more impressive, proceeds from the tour benefit brain cancer research, making this sweet experience one that gives back.
LIICT is open to all ages and welcomes families, friend groups, couples, and solo scoopers alike. Organizers recommend arriving early, packing a cooler for leftovers, and most importantly — bringing an appetite.
We’re celebrating 15 years of spreading smiles through scoops,” said co-founder Jeff Noreman in a previous statement. “It’s about supporting local business and having a fun, flavorful adventure.”
Don’t Miss the Scoop
From nostalgic favorites like mint chip and butter pecan to wild inventions like cannoli cream swirl and mango chili gelato, each stop on the tour promises something uniquely Long Island.
So if you’re looking to beat the heat and taste your way across the Island — one homemade scoop at a time – the 2025 Long Island Ice Cream Tour might be the coolest way to do it.
