Queens Man Charged With Kidnapping Woman and Holding Her at Huntington Motel, Police Say

HUNTINGTON, NY – A Queens man has been charged with kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, and multiple domestic violence-related offenses after allegedly forcing a 19-year-old woman into his vehicle, assaulting her, and holding her against her will at a Huntington motel, according to Nassau County police.

Balraj Singh, 28, of Richmond Hill, was arrested following an investigation into a series of alleged domestic incidents that occurred between June 15 and July 7, 2026.

According to detectives, Singh allegedly made repeated verbal and electronic threats against the 19-year-old victim, causing her to fear for her life. Police said he then ordered the victim to meet him at a specific location and get into his vehicle, warning her there would be repercussions if she refused.

Investigators said the victim complied. Once inside the vehicle, Singh allegedly struck her numerous times in the face before driving away despite her repeated pleas to be let out.

Police said Singh later displayed a box cutter and drove the victim to the Abbey Motor Inn on West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington, where he allegedly refused to allow her to leave.

The victim was able to call 911, prompting an extensive investigation. Authorities located the woman at the motel and arrested Singh without incident.

Further investigation determined that Singh had also violated a valid order of protection, according to police.

Singh has been charged with:

  • Kidnapping in the Second Degree
  • Three counts of Criminal Contempt
  • Unlawful Imprisonment in the First Degree
  • Three counts of Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree
  • Menacing in the Second Degree
  • Harassment in the Second Degree

He was arraigned Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in First District Court in Hempstead.
