MASSAPEQUA, NY – A 22-year-old Massapequa woman has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a local man inside a residence early Monday morning, according to Nassau County Police.
Detectives said officers from the Seventh Precinct responded to a home in Massapequa at approximately 1:30 a.m. on June 1, 2026, after receiving a 911 call reporting an aided person. Upon arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Robert Michael Carragher Jr. suffering from a stab wound. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County Police medic.
According to investigators, the victim and defendant had known each other for several years and had reportedly spent part of the evening together before returning to the residence. Additional details reported by CBS New York indicate that Nassau County detectives allege Carragher was asleep when he was stabbed in the neck inside the family home.
According to CBS New York, Carragher was able to make his way upstairs after being wounded and seek help from his parents inside the home. Despite their efforts to help him, he later succumbed to his injuries. CBS reported that he died in his father’s arms.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives arrested Kristin Sculley, 22, of Massapequa. Police said she was located inside the residence when officers arrived and was subsequently taken into custody. Investigators also recovered a pocketknife that is believed to be connected to the incident.
Sculley has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree. She was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead and pleaded not guilty to the charge. Court records indicate she is being held without bail as the case proceeds through the criminal justice system.
The investigation remains active. Nassau County Police have not released additional information regarding a possible motive, and detectives continue to gather evidence related to the circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter.
If convicted of second-degree murder, Sculley could face a lengthy state prison sentence.
