Nassau Police Charge Lindenhurst Man After Loaded .38 Revolver Found In Vehicle During Traffic Stop In Brookville

According to the detectives, Robert Abruzzese, 49 of Lindenhurst, was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th degree, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions.

BROOKVILLE, NY – A Lindenhurst man was arrested in Brookville for the possession of a weapon, as reported by the Nassau County Police Second Squad. The incident took place on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

According to the detectives, a Brookville Police Officer noticed a white 2023 Dodge Charger committing several traffic infractions while traveling northbound on Route 107 near the intersection of Wheatley Road. The officer conducted a vehicle and traffic law stop of the Dodge Charger on Route 107 near Equestrian Court.

Upon further investigation, the police recovered an imitation pistol resembling a Glock 9mm, and the vehicle’s operator, Robert Abruzzese, was arrested without incident. The 49-year-old defendant, residing on North Niagara Avenue, was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th degree, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions.

Additionally, a loaded Smith and Wesson .38 Revolver was found inside the vehicle during the investigation. Robert Abruzzese was arraigned on Friday, March 15, 2024, at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
