LINDENHURST, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of five alleged members of rival motorcycle clubs stemming from a violent, weapon-filled altercation that erupted in Lindenhurst in September 2025.
Roger Clarke, 53, of New Hampshire; Christopher Clarke, 21, of New Hampshire; Joseph Bivona, 46, of Centereach; Michael Baffa, 57, of Farmingville; and Robert Miller, 54, of West Babylon were indicted on charges including Gang Assault in the First Degree and related felony offenses.
This was a brazen and dangerous outbreak of violence that put the public at risk,” District Attorney Tierney said. “What began as a confrontation between rival motorcycle gangs escalated into a chaotic melee in the middle of the day on Sunrise Highway, involving weapons and resulting in serious injuries. Violence of this nature will not be tolerated in Suffolk County.”
Alleged September 2025 Lindenhurst Melee
According to investigators, the incident occurred on September 14, 2025, at approximately 3:28 p.m., outside a gas station near Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst. Alleged members of the Pagan’s Motorcycle Club and the Demons of Hell Motorcycle Club – a known support group of the Hells Angels – were involved in a violent confrontation involving knives, hammers, baseball bats, and other weapons.
The altercation allegedly began earlier that day when members of the Demons of Hell and one alleged Hells Angels member interrupted a memorial service for a Pagan’s member being held at a Lindenhurst bar. Shortly afterward, approximately 15 individuals converged at a nearby Route 66 gas station, where the confrontation escalated into a violent melee.
Serious Injuries Alleged
Prosecutors allege that Roger Clarke and Christopher Clarke, both members of the Demons of Hell, stabbed and beat a rival Pagan’s member with a hammer, causing injuries that required emergency surgery. Roger Clarke is also accused of stabbing a second Pagan’s member as the victim attempted to flee, inflicting stab wounds that lacerated the victim’s liver and colon and necessitated additional emergency surgery.
Bivona, Baffa, and Miller, all alleged members of the Pagan’s Motorcycle Club, are accused of acting together to assault a 76-year-old alleged Hells Angels member, striking him with weapons including baseball bats. The victim suffered a brain bleed and required multiple emergency surgeries, followed by ongoing medical treatment.
Arraignments and Charges
Between January 20 and January 21, 2026, all five defendants were arraigned before Supreme Court Justice John B. Collins on various combinations of the following charges:
- Gang Assault in the First Degree (Class B violent felony)
