EAST MEADOW, NY – A Levittown man was arrested Saturday afternoon following an alleged robbery at an Walmart store in East Meadow, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Detectives assigned to the department’s Third Squad said the incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. on January 17, 2026, at the Walmart located on Hempstead Turnpike. Investigators identified the suspect as Christopher Jennings, 53, of Levittown.
Police said Jennings allegedly entered the store, removed security tags from merchandise, and concealed multiple items inside a reusable shopping bag. Authorities said he then passed all points of sale and exited the store without paying.
Loss prevention personnel attempted to stop Jennings outside the store, at which point he allegedly shoved an employee before fleeing the scene. Responding officers later located Jennings nearby, police said.
When officers attempted to take him into custody, authorities said Jennings became violent and combative while resisting arrest. No injuries were reported.
Jennings faces multiple charges and is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
