UNIONDALE, NY – The Nassau County Police Department’s First Squad reports the arrest of a Brooklyn man and a Roosevelt woman on multiple drug-related charges following a vehicle stop in Uniondale.

The arrest occurred on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at approximately 3:09 a.m., after First Precinct officers observed a 2011 white Mercedes-Benz traveling eastbound on Jerusalem Avenue with heavily tinted rear windows, in violation of Vehicle and Traffic Law. Officers initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Waypark Avenue and Matteline Street.

Police identified the driver as Haneef Lamont, 42, of Brooklyn, and the front-seat passenger as Shannon Baxter, 35, of Roosevelt. During the investigation, officers removed Lamont from the vehicle. While removing Baxter, officers heard an object strike the sidewalk and observed a black digital scale with a white powdery residue, believed to be crack cocaine, bounce behind Lamont.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of approximately 83.7 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be crack cocaine, as well as push rods containing residue believed to be heroin. Both defendants were placed under arrest without incident.

Further investigation revealed that Baxter was allegedly in possession of 3.6 grams of a white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine and 7.6 grams of a brown powdery substance believed to be heroin, both contained in plastic baggies.

While Lamont was being transported to the First Precinct for arrest processing, officers recovered an additional 34.2 grams of a large plastic bag containing a rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine from the rear of the police vehicle, directly behind where Lamont had been seated.

Both Lamont and Baxter are charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree
  • Lamont is additionally charged with two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Both defendants were scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, January 16, 2026, at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead. The investigation remains ongoing.
