RIDGE, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that Jawarren Booker, 29, of Ridge, has been indicted on charges of Burglary in the First Degree and Rape in the First Degree for allegedly breaking into a 74-year-old woman’s Holbrook apartment and sexually assaulting her during a violent home invasion in late October.
This is an absolutely appalling crime,” said District Attorney Tierney. “A 74-year-old woman was violated in her own home — a place where she should have been safe. My thanks go out to the Suffolk County detectives, crime lab, and fugitive investigators who prioritized this case and ensured the alleged offender was quickly apprehended.”
During the early morning hours of October 24, 2025, the victim, who lives alone, reportedly heard a noise coming from her bedroom. When she went to investigate, she encountered a man dressed entirely in black with only his eyes visible.
Booker allegedly forced the woman onto her bed and raped her before fleeing through the same bedroom window he used to enter. Before leaving, he allegedly warned the victim not to call police.
The victim immediately sought help from neighbors, who called 911. She was transported to a local hospital for a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) evaluation and treatment for injuries suffered during the attack. Suffolk County Police collected forensic evidence at the scene as part of the investigation.
Once Booker was identified as a suspect, investigators learned that he had allegedly fled Suffolk County and was believed to be hiding in New York City. The New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted Suffolk County detectives in locating and arresting Booker in the Bronx, just four days after the attack.
On November 12, 2025, Booker was arraigned before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis on the following charges:
- Burglary in the First Degree (Class B violent felony)
- Rape in the First Degree (Class B violent felony)
Justice Wilutis ordered Booker remanded without bail. He is due back in court on November 19, 2025, and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted. Booker is represented by the Legal Aid Society.
