EAST ROCKAWAY, NY – Nassau County Police have arrested Adrian Raghunanan, 26, of Queens, following a serious pedestrian crash that left a 66-year-old woman critically injured Friday evening in East Rockaway.

According to detectives, the incident occurred on October 24, 2025, at approximately 5:59 p.m., at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Denton Avenue. Police say the female pedestrian was crossing the street when she was struck by a 2024 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Raghunanan.

The impact caused severe trauma, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she remains listed in critical condition.

An investigation determined that Raghunanan was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was placed under arrest at the scene by responding officers.

Raghunanan, who resides on 87th Avenue in Queens, has been charged with Vehicular Assault in the Second Degree and Driving While Intoxicated. He was scheduled for arraignment on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
