NORTH HILLS, N.Y. – Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives have arrested a Glen Cove man in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on July 12, 2025, in North Hills.
According to investigators, the collision took place at approximately 12:49 p.m. on the South Service Road, where a 2025 Kia Sportage traveling eastbound struck a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was also traveling eastbound.
The motorcycle was operated by a 63-year-old man and carried a 58-year-old female passenger. The Kia was operated by a 51-year-old man.
All three individuals were transported to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Kia and the motorcycle operator sustained minor injuries. The 58-year-old female passenger suffered severe trauma and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Following an extensive investigation, police arrested Nicholas Varrino, 52, of Brewster Street in Glen Cove, on February 18, 2026, in connection with the crash.

- Aggravated Vehicular Homicide
- Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree
- Manslaughter in the Second Degree
- Two counts of Assault in the Second Degree
- Vehicular Assault in the First Degree
- Vehicular Assault in the Second Degree
- Reckless Driving
- Two counts of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs
- Driving While Ability Impaired by a Combination of Drugs and Alcohol
He was arraigned on February 18, 2026, at Nassau County Court in Mineola.
