MASSAPEQUA PARK, N.Y. – Nassau County police arrested a 46-year-old Lindenhurst resident early Tuesday after responding to a structure fire in a quiet Massapequa Park neighborhood, authorities said.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, officers from the Nassau County Police Department were dispatched to a disturbance call at a residence on Park Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered a small blaze burning in the attached carport of the home. The Massapequa Fire Department was called to the scene and brought the fire under control.
Officials with the county’s Arson Bomb Squad conducted a preliminary investigation at the scene, which led to the arrest of Kevin Seymour, who lives on North Indiana Avenue in Lindenhurst. Police transported Seymour to a nearby hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, though no other injuries were reported.
Seymour was charged with a series of felony and misdemeanor offenses, including second-degree attempted arson, fifth-degree arson, and third-degree criminal mischief, according to local law enforcement. His arraignment was scheduled later today at the First District Court in Hempstead.
