CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced that Jeremias Anaribamoran, 48, a Honduran national, has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the fatal shooting of 40-year-old Gustavo Godinez-Carcamo earlier this year in Central Islip.

According to court records and the defendant’s admissions, the incident occurred on March 15, 2025, just before midnight. Anaribamoran and the victim were sitting in the back seat of a vehicle parked outside Godinez-Carcamo’s home after spending the day socializing and drinking alcohol with two other individuals.

A verbal dispute broke out between the two men, escalating when Anaribamoran drew a 9mm pistol and shot Godinez-Carcamo three times. The victim fled on foot toward his home, located less than half a mile away, before collapsing.

Responding officers from the Suffolk County Police Department found the victim unresponsive and attempted lifesaving measures. Members of the Central Islip Volunteer Ambulance Company transported him to South Shore University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and right arm.

Following an investigation, detectives from the Suffolk County Homicide Squad arrested Anaribamoran on March 18, 2025, after conducting overnight surveillance of his residence.

Anaribamoran pleaded guilty to Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A felony, before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis on September 4, 2025. On October 23, 2025, Justice Wilutis sentenced him to 25 years to life in prison.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security – Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer to take custody of Anaribamoran for deportation following the completion of his sentence.
