CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – A 47-year-old Central Islip man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of an acquaintance during a late-night altercation earlier this year.
Jeremias Anaribamoran admitted in court that on March 15, 2025, he shot 40-year-old Gustavo Godinez-Carcamo three times with a 9mm pistol after the two argued while sitting in the back seat of a car parked outside Godinez-Carcamo’s home. The men had been drinking with two others throughout the day before the confrontation escalated.
Godinez-Carcamo ran from the car toward his home less than a half-mile away but collapsed from his injuries. Responding Suffolk County Police officers and Central Islip Volunteer Ambulance personnel attempted life-saving measures before he was transported to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy later confirmed multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and arm.
Detectives from the Suffolk County Homicide Squad arrested Anaribamoran three days later, on March 18, 2025, after surveilling his residence.
On September 4, 2025, Anaribamoran pleaded guilty before Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen M. Wilutis to Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A felony. He is scheduled to be sentenced on October 23, 2025, and faces 25 years to life in state prison.
Following his sentence, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer to assume custody of Anaribamoran for deportation proceedings. He is represented by attorney Katherine Fernandez.
The case was investigated by Detectives Frankie Sierra and Jose Johnson of the Suffolk County Homicide Squad and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Eric S. Aboulafia of the Homicide Bureau.
