NASSAU COUNTY, NY – A 48-year-old man from Dix Hills faces serious federal charges after allegedly plotting to kidnap, torture, extort, and kill a former business associate.

According to court documents, Navdeep Singh, owner of Gravity Construction Corp., allegedly offered a would-be hitman $100,000 and 10 acres of land to abduct his associate, transport him out of state, demand a multimillion-dollar ransom, and ultimately kill him. Investigators say the plot emerged amid a prolonged civil lawsuit involving the former business partner, from whom Singh’s company had been removed from a construction project.

The criminal conspiracy, as outlined by Nassau County Prosecutors, spanned from May 29 to June 3. During that time, Singh conducted multiple meetings with a co-conspirator and shared photographs of the target’s residence and vehicle. Investigators also say Singh purchased several burner phones and paid an initial $7,000 down payment during a planning session.

The plot was thwarted when authorities arrested Singh on June 7 as he approached the alleged victim’s property in Manhasset. He was arraigned June 9 on charges of conspiracy and criminal solicitation, with bail set at $1 million cash or $2 million bond.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly described the allegations as deeply disturbing, highlighting the extreme lengths Singh allegedly intended to go to resolve the business dispute. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder praised the collaboration between police and prosecutors for preventing what he described as a potentially tragic outcome.

The indictment indicates that Singh faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted. He remains held without bail and is scheduled to return to court for further proceedings.
