Avoiding Bed Bugs From Hotel Rooms

Published on Jan. 26, 2011, 5:09 AM Last Update: 1 year(s) ago by Lonny Sherman

One of the main causes of bed bug infestations in a home is sleeping in hotel rooms. While most hotels do their best to keep rooms clean and pest free, all of the travelers moving in and out of a room can bring in a wide variety of outside pests, such as bed bugs in NYC. People who travel frequently should be wary of even the nicest hotel rooms because these pests can easily transport from the hotel room to their personal homes. In order to avoid this from happening, there are several things that people can do to keep bed bugs from traveling home with them.

Bed bugs thrive on the beds and in the carpets of hotel rooms. While clothing and bodies can be washed once a traveler gets home, luggage cases cannot be. It's important to keep luggage off of the beds and floors at all times. Use the luggage rack provided, or keep the luggage on a dresser. However, before using the luggage rack in a hotel room, inspect it to make sure that it is also clean and free of any visible pests.

Plastic protective cases have also become very popular among travelers. While there are several companies out there that manufacture protective casing for luggage, a simple large, plastic laundry bag will do the job just as well. Keep luggage in the plastic coating unless it is in use.

Lastly, before booking a room, search the hotel name online, and look for any reviews that mention home or pests. If any reviews bring up bed bugs, find a new hotel because there are plenty of places to stay that do not have pest problems.

Arrow Exterminating is one of the largest pest control companies in the New York metropolitan area. They have been exterminating the pests and bed bugs NYC, Long Island, and all New York residents can't get rid of by other means. ( http://www.arrowexterminating.com/bedbug-control.php )
