41 William Floyd High School Artists Receive Distinguished Honor at NYSATA Portfolio Day
Mastic Beach, NY – May 18th, 2015 – Earlier this month, 41 William Floyd High School art students in grades nine through 12 received the highest rating of “Distinguished” on their portfolios at the annual New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA) Portfolio Project adjudication held at Sachem East High School.
To participate, students must be nominated by their teachers and then present their work before a professional artist for assessment and feedback. The Portfolio Project is an authentic assessment tool that provides students with an opportunity to present their portfolios and demonstrate their understanding and success in the visual arts.
The students’ projects will be on display at the Anthony Giordano Art Gallery at Dowling College in Oakdale until May 16. Congratulations to all the students and their art teachers Erin Almeida, Jillian Berner, Theresa Bianco, Erika Licausi, Dale Luongo and Susan Plunket.
